Apparatus for Dosing Chemicals into Water

An apparatus for dosing a chemical into water, comprises a chamber into which water can be introduced in a continual flow and a holder having an open bottom which is at a fixed vertical level. The holder is provided to hold a solid chemical soluble in water and a mechanism is provided to permit a water level to rise to the bottom of the holder and contact the solid chemical and then permit the treated water to be discharged intermittently. The mechanism may be in the form of either a siphon arrangement or a pivotally mounted trough provided with a counterweight. The apparatus may form part of a water supply installation wherein the intermittent discharge of treated water into a storage tank is accompanied by a continual flow of water directly into the storage tank without contacting the solid chemical.
