A device for producing a region which is free of interlocking members in two continuous slide fastener stringer tapes is described. Provided in the device is a support table which has a guide groove for receiving the two stringer tapes along a straight path. Two guide plates are arranged on each side of the guide groove and extend over the latter towards one another in order, together with the guide groove, to bound a guide channel. A pressure pad is vertically movable around a swage arranged in a stationary manner in the support table in order, together with the guide plates, to clamp two stringer tapes. A punching tool has a cutting edge so that, when the punching tool is brought near to the fixed swage, the cutting edge enters a relatively narrow gap between the adjacent edges of the stringer tapes in order to sever a region of the rows of interlocking members coupled to one another only in the limbs on the stringer tape side while the stringer tapes are only placed in the guide channel. An ejector is arranged below the punching tools and, together with the punching tool, can be moved upwards in order to pull the severed interlocking members out of the stitches which fix the interlocking members on the stringer tapes while the stringer tapes are clamped between the pressure pad and the guide plates without pulling the stringer tapes apart laterally. |
