Rolling head of a cross-rolling mill, which supports, in a flying manner on a shaft (1, 60) which is inclined towards the axis of the material to be rolled and is supported in the rolling-head housing by two radial bearings (3/16, 62/66) and one axial bearing (13, 68), a conical working roller (2, 55) which is movable for the axial throwing-on against the material to be rolled, either together with the shaft (1) bearing it and the axial bearing (13) supporting the shaft (1) or with a sliding bush (56) which sits in a rotationally fixed manner in the axially non-displaceable shaft (60), via a threaded adjusting means (17/19, 73/74) which acts between rolling-head housing (8) and axial pressure bearing (13) or between shaft (60) and sliding bush (56). In order to ensure freedom for play in the adjustment arrangement for the axial throwing-on of the roller (2, 55) by constant mutual contact of the threaded adjustment means (17/19, 73/74), an auxiliary adjustment means (36/37, 82/83) which acts in the same direction and uniformly with the adjustment means (17/19, 73/74), a spring (42, 42', 84) and an auxiliary axial bearing (39, 85) are provided as support of the part of a closed power flow (43, 93) which starts from the housing (8, 65) as fixed point and which counteracts the other part of the closed force flow (43, 93) which acts via the roller support (shaft or sliding bush (1, 56)), the adjustment means (17/19, 73/74) and the axial bearing (13, 68). <IMAGE>
