The saucepan or other cooking pan is double-walled with a vacuum in between to prevent heat loss. In the cavity the wall facing the inside of the pan is preferably black whilst the wall facing the outside of the pan is silver ensuring all the heat is reflected back from the outer wall and absorbed by the inner wall vastly reducing the heat loss. This type of vacuum wall can be incorporated in a pressure cooker providing an even more rapid form of cooking.
