The invention relates to a converter for equalisation according to a pseudologarithmic compander characteristic of pre-emphasised digital signals which is approximated by means of linear segments. In order to be able to convert these signals back into analog signals at low circuit cost, a code converter (5) to compensate for the pre-emphasis is provided according to the invention which converts the data word (a') which replicates the pre-emphasised signal through digitally-based conversion according to the inverse function of the compander characteristic into a data word (x') which is redundant as a result of the non-linear conversion, the equalised analog signal (x) being obtained from this data word by means of a linear digital-analog converter (6). <IMAGE>
