The control of ink jet printing must deal with rapid starting and stopping of the ink fluid to provide for both correct and high speed printing. Ink droplet ejection is controlled by means of cylindrically-shaped pressure waves generated in the ink close to the nozzle (18). A pair of electrodes (10, 12) is provided in the ink chamber (14) with an insulated conductor (22) extending therebetween and the pressure waves are generated as a result of interaction between discharges between electrodes and the magnetic field produced around the conductor (22) as current flows therethrough, The principal use is an ink jet printer. |
