<p>The engine has cylinders divided into two groups, each with its own exhaust manifold. It has two fuel injector, one for each cylinder group, supplying fuel in response to required load. The second injector supply can be blocked. In the second exhaust manifold (30) is mounted a change-over valve (34), which recycles the exhaust gases from this manifold to the suction manifold (12), via a return line (40), when the second injector (14,20) has been blocked. Between the accelerator pedal and a power adjuster (throttle) of the engine is incorporated a servo-member (74) of adjustable length, with a magnetic armature whose coil is current fed, when the second injector has been blocked. The armature is moved, against a spring force, in the direction of the throttle opening. A limit switch cooperates with the accelerator pedal, for cutting off current from the coil, when the throttle is closed.</p> |
