Apparatus for laying paper, parchment and in particular cellophane film on foodstuffs cut in slices, such as sausage, ham or smoked salmon, the cut slices being placed together in portions for serving, comprising a device for conveying a paper or film web, and for conveying a piece of film to the slices, a device for issuing individual sheets of paper or pieces of film and a conveyor belt for the slice with the sheet of paper or piece of film located thereon, and in an apparatus of this type the conveying device and the cutting device are designed in such a manner that pieces of film may be cut off from a film angle bar at great speed and may be placed on a slice of a foodstuff moving quickly. <IMAGE>
