The invention relates to a sauna oven with stones (4 and 5) as heat accumulator and a gas burner as heat source. It is the object of the invention to achieve a favourable dissipation of waste gases coupled with a high coefficient of heat utilisation. The procedure to achieve this is such that the waste gas channel (3) is arranged so as to be telescopically displaceable in the fresh air channel (2). The fresh air flowing around the gas channel is thereby preheated, so that the efficiency is increased; the telescopic extension simplifies discharge of waste gases into the open air. In that case, the free end is located outside the sauna space and can thus be provided from the outside with the heating and control unit (10), for example, so as to lie under a roofing. <IMAGE>
