The invention relates to a variable-delivery pump for use in machine tools, construction machinery and other industrial machines. The pump contains a flow-rate adjusting mechanism for varying the amount of delivered liquid between a low-pressure maximum flow rate and a zero-travel pressure flow rate. Said flow-rate adjustment mechanism has a displaceable component and a plug or damping plug in order to set a position in which the displaceable component is prevented from moving beyond that point of the displacement which is slightly less than the zero-travel displacement which maintains the zero-travel pressure flow rate. By means of this arrangement it is possible to prevent excessive movement of the displaceable component, if the delivery pressure rapidly increases for the delivery of liquid under zero-travel pressure, which results in pressure stabilization being obtained and noise and vibrations being reduced.
