The windmill has a counterbalance, which allows it to pump effectively under minimal wind velocity. It includes blades which undergo rotational movement when actuated by the wind. A transmission converts rotational movement of the blades to reciprocal motion of a pumping rod. A support tower supports the blades, transmission, and rod. A counterbalance is connected to the support and rod so that the weight of the rod and liquid column within the well is counterbalanced. A collar surrounds the rod and is supported to prevent vibration of the rod during reciprocation. The counterbalance may include a pair of rods which are pivoted to the pumping rod. Weights are attached to the rods extending from the support. |
