Appts. is described where pre-foamed thermoplastic moulding is produced by charging a mould with pearl material and heating up to foam, fitting the mould with heating and cooling chambers for use in alternating sequence. These chambers are lined with thermal insulation on all their inner faces except the mould walls. Min. energy consumption is obtd. The thermal insulation used is a silicone resin.
