PURPOSE:To obtain a composition having improved suspension stability and thixotropic properties, by adding a specific amount of an alkali carbonate to a just formed filter cake or zeolite having a specific crystallinity and grain size characteristics, and agitating the resultant mixture under a strong shear. CONSTITUTION:0.1-10wt%, expressed in terms of anhydride and based on zeolite, alkali carbonate is added to a just formed filter cake of zerolite having a particle diameter <1mu measured by measured by the an electron microscope and a crystallinity of 35-75% measured by the X-ray diffractometry, and the resultant mixture is then agitated under a strong shear. The zeolite to be used has a CaO exchange ability >=100mg/g based on the anhydride, and sodium carbonate is most suitable. The agitation under shear is carried out by using a colloid mill, and the peripheral speed of shearing blades or a rotor is set at about >=10m/sec. The resultant aqueous zeolite suspension composition has a solid concentration as high as 30-50wt% based on the anhydride. |
