<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display element which has excellent orientation characteristics by preventing the sticking of dust which is produced easily in rubbing, a spark, etc., by arranging a specific dummy pattern on a lower substrate provided with an electrode pattern and a common terminal. CONSTITUTION:On a lower substrate 1, an electrode pattern 2 and a common terminal 3 for an electric connection with an upper substrate are provided. Further, a dummy pattern 6 is provided which is connected electrically to an electrode 2 at the opposite side to the common terminal 3 and extends to a lower-substrate external diameter position. Therefore, when a metallic mask 4 (oblique line) is superposed upon the said lower substrate and orientation is performed by rubbing, static electricity generate on the surface of the substrate is earthed to the mask 4 through the common terminal 3 and dummy pattern 6 on both the side of the electrode pattern 2 to decrease a potential difference, thereby evading the generation of a spark, the sticking of dust, etc.</p> |
