PURPOSE:To improve the sensibility and the resolution and to achieve the high performance by electrically insulating between the ion source and the ion accelerating field in a mass spectrometer and setting exchangeable the state of the ion source positive high potential, acceleration field ground potential and the ion source ground potential, acceleration field negative high potential. CONSTITUTION:An ionization box 1 for ionizing a provided specimen is fixed through is insulator 7 to a housing 8. An injection slit 2 for forming the acceleration field, electric field electrode 3, analyzing tube 4 and an incident slit 5 are fixed through an insulator not shown, AT insulator 12 and an insulator 13 respectively to the housings 8, 9, 14. While an ion collector 6 is fixed through an insulator 15. EF power source 16 for generating the electrostatic field is connected to the electrode 3. Furthermore a positive power source 17, negative power source 18 and a ground line 20 are provided and connected through an exchange switch 19 to the ion source and the acceleration field. Since the ion source is brought to the ground potential, the ion accelerating voltage can be increased to improve the sensibility and the resolution. The measurement where the ion source is at the positive high potential can also be performed. |
