Separate mountings are provided for engine pod (22) and by-pass casing (24) in two broadly co-incident planes. In the forward plane the engine is supported from one bracket (30) and the casing from another (50); in the after plane a single bracket (40) carries the engine directly and the casing indirectly, via two struts (58, 60) with universally jointed ends running to brackets below and on either side of the casing axis, in the forward mounting plante. For turbofan engines, that part of the by-pass casing adjoining the fan (62) is supported (64) from the engine to minimise clearance variation. The joint with the main casing (66) is near the mounting plane.
|
