PURPOSE:To exclude the influence of the inclination of a brake shoe by making holes in a rim at both symmetric side positions of the web of a brake shoe and by inserting the detecting elements of a forked displacement gauge which utilizes the phenomenon that magnetic resistance varies linearily with an air gap. CONSTITUTION:At both symmetric side positions of the web 13 of a brake shoe 11, holes 14a are made in a rim 14, and a forked displacement gauge 16 which utilizes the phenomenon that magnetic resistance varies linearly with an air gap is set by inserting its detecting elements 16a into those holes so that their tips 16b are on a lining slide surface 15a. The displacement gauge 16 is put in operation to constitute a magnetic circuit 17 by the displacement gauge 16 and a drum 12, and the magnetic resistance is detected to measure shoe clearance (t) in the center of web. Consequently, the influence of the inclination of the brake shoe 11 is eliminated. |
