Fixture for armour on adjusting ring of cone breaker - uses tension ring threaded to collar to automatically renew tension as armour wears

Press bolts thrust against one endface of the ring and a collar with split ring, forming an abutment for an annular shoulder area on the armour itself. To ensure that the armour remains secure throughout its service life despite progressive wear, a tension ring (4) is threaded (5) to the collar (6) and locked to prevent twisting relative to the ring (3). The press-back bolts (1) are screwed into the tension ring. The armour (11) is mounted to the adjusting ring, followed by the collar (6) above and the threaded tension ring. The split ring (7) is clipped into the collar recess (8), screwing the bolts against the ring face (2) and raising the ring (4) to contact the split ring flange (9) and armour shoulder (10,11). As the armour wears it starts to revolve slowly due to progressive clearance. This entrains the split ring and collar which moves up the thread (5) and takes the armour with it, so that the armour support surface (12) is again clamped for effective crushing action in the concave.
