The forceps have a pair of limbs which are joined at one end (3). Each limb has a wide proximal part (1) and a narrow, pointed shaft (2) extending from it. These two elements are joined by inverting the shaft into a elongate groove formed on the outer surface of the main body. A screw (4) passes through a transverse threaded bore formed in the shaft and into a hole in the bore of the groove to hold the shaft in place. The groove pref. has a square cross-section to ensure the correct angular partitioning of the shaft.
