A rotary tubular high voltage electrode for an electrostatic separator has a central metal axis connected to a stationary supply terminal and mounted in a glass tube of appreciably larger dia. between metallic plugs at the ends of the tube. The inner tube surface has a thin metallic facing and is coated with electrically conductive paint inside which is embedded a conductive fabric whose lower end is bent in towards the metal axis and is embedded in a mass of conductive material filling the lower end of the tube to above the bend in the conductive fabric. Sleeves of resilient material are inserted between the metal plug exteriors and the inner face of the glass tube. For vertical electrodes applying fields up to 10 kV/cm at the sides of gravity separators, esp. for the K salts, and which tend to become covered with dust, requiring removal by scraping or brushing as the electrode is rotated.
