For forming a link in a chain for distributing goods which retain their quality characteristics only at refrigerator temperatures, use is made of a cooling container which can be equipped with cooling accumulators and works with a heat-operated cold absorption apparatus and which is divided into three spaces which work with different temperatures, a first of which serves for charging the cooling accumulators with the aid of the absorption refrigerating apparatus, a second of which stores the charged cooling accumulators and the third space of which receives the goods to be transported on distribution at temperatures slightly above the freezing point. With such a container, sensitive goods such as for example vaccines or delicate foods such as in particular fish can be stored and transported without damage for a number of days even in hot climate zones even without operating the refrigerating apparatus.
