<p>The container is mounted on rubber buffers located at intervals in a precast concrete envelope made up from a bottom half shell, and top half shell joined by clamping screws . Plastic foam filling can be provided between container and envelope. The bottom half shell can be joined to a base slab, pref. monolithically. A sealing concrete shell, joined to the top one by the same screws, may enclose a cavity filled with pref. granulated radiation-absorbing material. Used as a nuclear shelter set horizontally in the ground, with partitioned entrance and exit shafts or openings, living and survival accommodation, and radiation screen covering. It is simple, relatively inexpensive, and easily prefabricated and laid in a prepd. pit, to afford adequate stability and radiation protection.</p> |
