The gear wheel drive is for shafts and rollers in folding machines. A number of shafts and rollers are connected to each other by gear wheels and one or more of these are fixed with the remainder having bearings permitting movement relative to each other. The operating connection between the shafts and rollers on one side and the gear rims of the gear wheels on the other side is effected by an element damping both mechanical and sound oscillations and made from a rubber elastic material located on the inside of each of the gear wheels.
