The present electronic translation device comprises a keyboard for entering first words, a first memory for storing the first words, a second memory for storing second words corresponding to the first words, an access circuit which addresses the memories for retrieving the first words or otherwise the second words, and a control circuit which controls the access devices. Additionally, a holding circuit can be provided which leaves the first words in their original form without translation.
