PURPOSE:To prepare the titled composition capable of suppressing the formation of sordes on tooth and preventing the tooth carries and periodontosis, by using an organic solvent extract of a crude drug selected from YOBAIHI (bark of myrica), DAIO (rhizome of Rheum palmatum L.), AKAMEGASHIWA (bark of Mallotus japonicus Muell. Arg.) and GENNOSHOKO (whole grass of Germanium thunbergii Sieb, et Zucc.) as an active component. CONSTITUTION:A composition for oral cavity application, containing the extract of a crude drug selected from YOBAIHI, DAIO, AKAMEGASHIWA, and GENNO- SHOKO, with an organic solvent. Since the extract has the activity to suppress the formation of sordes on tooth, a composition such as tooth paste, mouth wash, troche, chewing gum, etc. containing the extract is effective to prevent the dental carries, periodontosis, etc. The organic solvent for extraction is e.g. a polar solvent such as lower alcohol, acetone, etc. and a non-polar solvent such as benzene, etc. The extract can be obtained e.g. by immersing dried powder of the crude drug in hot solvent. The amount of the extract in the composition is pref. 0.005-2%. |
