The invention relates to a belt drum for a tobacco conveyor belt, which, in order to increase operating safety or to remove quantities of material accumulating on the lower idle strand, is provided on the circumference with conveying slots which extend at an inclination relative to the end face of the drum, so that the material transferred into the drum interior is conveyed upwards in the slots, falls down again and, during each rotation of the drum, acquires a conveying component in the axial direction of the drum, in order thereby to come out of the drum laterally.
