Quinazoline derivs.(I; R1,R2,R3 = H, lower alkanoyl, lower alkyl; R4 = (CO)A (A = hydroxy); X' = Br, I), useful for treatment of allergy, were prepd. by reacting compd.(II) with Ni(CO)4 in the presence of alkali earth metals hydroxide under the CO atmosphere. Thus, the mixt. of 2-chloropyridine 100.0 g, 5-bromoanthranilic acid and KI 1.0 g was heated under the argon vapor at 145-150oC for one night and then cooled. The intermediate was treated with boiled ethanol to give 2-bromo-11-oxo-11 H-pyrido-[2,1-b quinazoline hydrochloride 105.4 g (86%).
