Vehicle interior rear view mirror - has mirror arm clipped between spring bars in holder plate glued to windscreen

The vehicle rear view mirror (1) is fitted on an arm (2) which is clipped into a carrier plate (3) glued to the front windscreen. The carrier plate (3) consists of a ring in which are spring bars (5) forming the sides of an equilateral triangle. The ring is riveted to a dish (6) by which the carrier plate is fixed to the windscreen. The upper end of the arm (2) has an irregular hexagonal prism (7) three sides of which have grooves to correspond with the spring bars (5) so that when the prism is inserted between the spring bars (5) in the carrier it is clipped in place. This method has the advantage that should the mirror be knocked it will unclip before causing injury, after which it is easily replaced.
