PURPOSE:To greatly improve fitting operation of a spacer by applying a pre-load to the rolling bearing and measuring the displacement of the measuring tool after setting a measuring tool between the inner rings of the two rolling bearings mounted in the housing, and by selecting appropriate dimension of the spacer between the rolling bearing on the basis of the measured value. CONSTITUTION:When the dimensions of a spacer and a shim which are held between inner rings 2a, 3a of two rolling bearings 2, 3 are to be determined, a m measuring tool 13 is placed on the upper side of the inner ring 3a and a lower guiding cylinder part 22 of a cylinder 15 is inserted and fixed to the inner ring 3a. Then a housing 1 is covered over the measuring tool 13 and the inner ring 2a is fitted to a supporting block 19 of the measuring tool 13. At the same time, a flange 17 of a shaft member 14 of the measuring tool 13 is placed against a head section 12a of a sensor 12. Then a pressurizing bar 24 is descended to give a preload to the bearings 2, 3, and the shaft member 14 of the measuring tool is descended. Finally, the displacement of the measuring tool 13 is obtained from the change of the space between the head section 12a of the sensor 12 and the flange 17 of the measuring tool 13. |
