Novel substituted ethynylpyridinyl-N'-benzoylureas of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 denotes fluorine, chlorine, bromine, methyl or methoxy, and R2 denotes hydrogen, fluorine or chlorine, with the proviso that, on the pyridine ring, the ethynyl group is located in the 5 position and the ureido group in the 2 position, or the ethynyl group is located in the 2 position and the ureido group in the 5 position; processes for preparing these compounds as well as agents containing these compounds and which are are to be used in the control of pests, particularly for controlling insects which attack plants and animals. The novel compounds exhibit high degrees of ovolarvicidal and in particular ovicidal activities against plant-damaging insects.
