The shuttering element is used for producing slits or other cutouts in walls or ceilings made of cast hard-setting material, esp. concrete. It is a shaped plastics unit (1) of dimensions corresponding to those of standard building blocks. The unit may be elongated, with the cross-sectional dimensions of the standard building blocks and can consist of two parts (2,3), linked by one or more breaking points (4,5), esp. by narrow interfacing bridges with exteriors flush with its adjoining external surfaces (6). The two parts can be cuboid in cross-section.
