The socket has a flanged core (5) carrying pins or socket holes and is mounted on a component (1) by means of a holder (8). The holder has a flange (8b) with holes for screws (9) that fix it to the component. The holder has an overhanging lip (8c) that engages behind the flange (7) of the core and prevents it moving axially outwards. The holes for the screws contain rubber inlays (13) through which the screws pass. A cavity is left inside the holder between the core's flange and the component. The cavity contains a stack of toroidal diaphragm springs (11) or spring washers. A ring (10) closes the component-end of the cavity.
