<p>The apparatus comprises one or more barriers (13) arranged to pass a pre-selected component (11) of the feedstock (12). The barriers (13) define flow paths (22, 23, 24) for the feedstock (12) and inlet and manifold means direct the feedstock (12) along the flow paths in contact with a first surface of each barrier (13). Transfer means communicate with the opposite surface of each barrier (13) and receive the component (11) which has passed through the barriers (13). The flow paths (22, 23, 24) are arranged to be elastically enlarged by the passage of the feedstock (12) therethrough. Plates (16) are provided for restricting the elastic enlargement of the flow paths such that a laminar flow of the feedstock can be maintained. </p> |
