PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which is excellent in coericve force and an angular shape ratio, at a high precipitation speed, by making gaseous Ar exist in the system which keeps the range of a specific Co (alloy) precipitation speed/gaseous pressure, when preparing the magnetic recording medium by vacuum vapor-depositing Co (alloy) on the base body. CONSTITUTION:By use of a vacuum vapor-deposition device which is provided with an electronic beam heating device consisting of a water-cooled substrate 2, a hearth 3 and a thermion source 4, in a bell jar 1, a base body 5 such as a polyester film, etc. is set onto the lower surface of the substrate 2, Co (alloy) 6 is put into the hearth 3, the jar 1 is exhausted by a rotary pump 7 and a diffusion pump 8, and after, gaseous Ar is led in through a lead-in pipe 9, and gaseous Ar is vapordeposited under the condition that precipitation speed/gas pressure of Co (alloy) becomes 5-1,000mu/min/torr, for instance, gaseous pressure is 2X10<-3>torr, and a precipitation speed is 0.12mu/min. In this way, a magnetic recording medium which is excellent in an angular shape ratio and coercive force is obtained easily. |
