PURPOSE:To obtain high C/N even at a high density and to permit high-speed transfer of information with a multiple type by arraying thin film magnetic heads at equal intervals in parallel to constitute a thin film magnetic head group and joining the two head groups. CONSTITUTION:The thin film magnetic head is formed by providing a lower yoke 2 and upper yoke 5 consisting of a soft magnetic film, as well as a gap 3 and a coil 4 on a substrate 1. The coil 4 and the yokes 2, 5 are insulated by an insulator 14. The insulator 14 consists of silicon oxide and the insulator 13 provided to the upper part of the upper side is formed by coating a mixture composed of glass and SiO2 on the substrate and melting and solidifying the coating. The soft magnetic film 17 consisting of the same material as the material of the yokes is provide atop the same and further, a glass film 18 for joining which is the same m.p. as the glass in the insulator 13 is deposited thereon. Such thin film magnetic heads are arrayed in parallel at equal intervals to constitute the thin film magnetic head group. The glass films 18 of the two thin film magnetic head groups are joined to each other and the films 17 are inserted into the joint surfaces in parallel with the array of the head groups. The high C/N is thereby obtd. and the high-speed transfer of the information is permitted. |
