PURPOSE:To increase the heating efficiency of a water heater and to reduce heat radiation loss by a method wherein the exhaust air from a combustion cylinder passing through a tank crosswise is introduced into a heat exchange chamber provided below the bottom of tank. CONSTITUTION:The combustion cylinder 7 having a burner 8 at one end thereof is passed crosswise through one side of the tank 1 and an exhaust port 9 of the combustion cylinder 7 is connected to an inlet port 11 of the heat exchange chamber 12 through a connecting pipe 10. The heat exchange chamber 12 is formed between an end plate 4 at the bottom of the tank 1 and the bottom 13 of the tank covering the end plate 4. Further, baffles 14 are provided within the heat exchange chamber 12 and an exhaust pipe 17 is connected to an exhaust port 18 of the chamber 12 Numeral 19 designates an exhaust fan. |
