<p>Vapour and/or gas discharge lamps with W electrodes, esp. Fluorescent tubes and Hg vapour discharge lamps of high light power and long operational life, are produced by (a) electrolytically polishing the metal lamp parts, (b) combining the polish lamp parts with the quartz body contg. the W electrode or spiral, and the glass structure, (c) further polishing the combined lamp system at a current density of >=2A/dm2, so that the non-metallic lamp parts are purified by the flow of the nascent H and O2 developed during the electrolytic polishing, and (d) opt. coating the metal parts with an Ag layer of at most 1 mu thickness.</p> |
