PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material which has high sensitivity and image density and permits saving of the amt. of silver halide by combining a silver halide emulsion layer having peaks at the parts where grain sizes are small and the parts where they are large and a specific hydrazone compound. CONSTITUTION:The hydrazone compound expressed by the formulaI, for example, the formula II, is contained in a halide emulsion layer or the like. An emulsion having a grain distribution curve having peaks at the parts of, for example, <=0.4mu grain sizes and the parts of >=0.7mu grain sizes, and having no peaks in 0.4- 0.7mu parts is used for the halide emulsion. In this way, the photographic material of sufficiently high image density and sensitivity is obtained by the combination use of the silver halide of the specific grain distribution and the hudrazone compound in spite of decreasing the usage of silver to 3/5-1/5 that in the prior art. |
