1,144,487. Tubular water heaters. PUREX CORP. Ltd. 4 July, 1966 [26 July, 1965], No. 29850/66. Heading F4A. A heater for heating water from a swimming pool comprises a housing containing gas burners and, mounted above these, an array of finned tubular water heating elements 2. The elements 2 which are in the form of an inner copper inlet tube 17 surrounded by a concentric outer finned copper tube 20 extend between a header casting 7 which defines inlet and outlet chambers 13, 14 respectively, at one end of the housing (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), and brackets 3 mounted at the other end of the housing, on which the ends 19 of elements 2 rest. Water from chamber 13 enters inlet 16 of inlet section 42 of each element 2, flows through inner tube 17, reverses in cardiod chamber 18, and flows back through outer tube 20 to exit through aperture 55 past ribs 47 of outlet section 41, into outlet chamber 14. The sections 41, 42 and the front face 37 of housing (10) are connected to the header casting 7 by 0-ring seals 43, 51, 44 to prevent water leakage. |
