Tube & shell heat exchanger esp. for nuclear or thermal power plant with guide plates(20) for directing heating fluid towards a vent tube(12) is provided. Heat exchanger cell(4) contains high & low temp. tube bundles(15,16). Each bundle has a number of u-tubes for a flowing medium to be heated. Between the two bundles, there is a vent tube(12) extending longitudinally in the shell for removing non-condensable gasses. At least one flow guide plate(20) is located on the outer side of the low temp. bundle(16) to channel heating fluid between the shell & the bundles towards the vent tube.
