PURPOSE:To make high speed printing possible, in an apparatus wherein a wire is flown to perform printing by cancelling the magnetic flux of a permanent magnet by energizing a coil, by energizing the coil to apply braking on the wire when the wire is returned so that the wire can be quickly returned to stop. CONSTITUTION:A printing wire 1 for performing dot printing is attached to the free end of an arm 3. The arm 3 can be rotated about a fulcrum point 2, and the rotation thereof is controlled by the permanent magnet 6, an energizing body 4 and a controlling coil 7. When the magnetic flux of the permanent magnet 6 is cancelled by energizing the controlling coil, the arm is rotated by the energizing body 4 toward a platen A to perform printing. When the energizing of the coil 7 is suspended, the arm is returned, but it will vibrate several times before it stops, and it takes for some time. Therefore, before the arm 3 strikes the permanent magnet 6 when the arm 3 returns, the controlling coil 7 is momentarily energized to apply brake on the wire 1 so that the arm is caused to stop without the vibrations. |
