An elastic embossing tool for a hydraulic press contains a housing 15 with a depression 16, at whose bottom part 17 is formed a projection 19 at a certain distance from its walls 18, which extends parallel along the walls. A planar, elastic membrane 20 is accommodated in the depression 16 and has a shoulder 21 along its entire periphery, facing the bottom 17 of the depression 16, while the end portion 22 of the shoulder extends parallel to the plane of the membrane 20 and forms together with the main portion of the membrane a gap 26 with a closed end 27 and is provided with a sealing edge 23, which elastically co-operates with the projection 19 of the housing 15. This forms a hermetically tight cavity 24, which communicates with a source of pressurised fluid via channels 25 in the housing 15. The thickness of the gap 26 is many times less than the thickness of the membrane 20, and the peripheral portion of the gap 26 is gently rounded in cross section relative to the plane of the membrane 20 against the bottom 17 of the depression 16. The closed end 27 of the gap is situated inside a region which is not subjected to tensile deformations when pressurised fluid is supplied to the cavity 24. <IMAGE> |
