PURPOSE:To enhance the water repellency of a water repellent and avoid the inflammatory action of the repellent on the skin even when coated with bare hand, by adding a sulfate, a phosphate, or selenate to an alkylpolysiloxane water repellent. CONSTITUTION:A sulfate (e.g., magnesium sulfate), a phosphate (e.g., potassium hydrogenphosphate), or a selenate (e.g., sodium hydrogenselenate) is dissolved in a water-soluble solvent of a low boiling point (e.g., an alcohol or a ketone) and then the solution is added to an alkylpolysiloxane (e.g., methyl-hydrogenpolysiloxane) to obtain a water repellent. The water repellent thus obtained exhibits excellent water repellency when coated on glass, plastics, ceramics, metals, etc., and also shows good releasability when coated on concrete form, wooden molds for casting, etc. |
