PURPOSE:To enable to prevent heat-accumulating materials from deterioration by inserting a specific heat pipe into a heat accumulator and operating an exhaust bypass valve by the expansion of gas charged in a radiating box provided on another end of the heat pipe for improving the capacity of heat accumulation in a simple construction. CONSTITUTION:The sensor end of a heat pipe 104 using Na or so on for its opreation fluid to be operated in the safety limit temperature of heat-accumulating materials 101a is inserted into a heat accumulator 101 mounted in the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, while its another end is equipped with a radiating box 105 charged with gas to be connected with a pressure chamber 107 of an exhaust bypass valve 103. When the temperature of the heat-accumulating materials 101a is low, the heat pipe 104 is not operated, and the exhaust bypass valve 103 is closed. But, when the temperature of the heat-accumulating materials 101a is increased over a fixed level, the steam pressure of the operation fluid in the pipe 104 is raised, and the gas in the radiating box 105 is expanded to displace a diaphragm 103a. Then, the bypass valve 103 is opened, and the exhaust gas of high temperature is made to escape to a bypass passage 102. |
