PURPOSE:To restore the magnetic stripe (MS) of a bankbook by supplying manually data needed for restoration of the bankbook MS via a bank clerk in case the operation of a device is stopped during a transaction using the bankbook. CONSTITUTION:A system consists of a card reader CR, a display DISP, a keyboard KB, ten keys TK, a bankbook slot/carry path, a print mechanism, a MS head, a banknote processing mechanism BRU, keyhole KH, a control part CTL, a memory RAM, a processor CPU, etc., and is connected to a host via a communication circuit. The RAM stores a normal processing program together with a MS restoring program for occurrence of faults which performs the normal processing. In such constitution, the bankbook MS can be instantaneously restored by the operation of a bank clerk in case a fault occurs during a transaction using a bankbook. Thus a bankbook containing a normal MS is returned to a customer and therefore it is not required for the customer to come back to the bank later. |
