The ring clamp for automobile exhaust pipes (7) comprises a stirrup (13) with diverging legs together with a curved strap (8). The end of each leg of the stirrup locates a stop (3,5) of which one (5) is a nut. The strap ends (9) have lateral openings together with bearing faces for the stops (3,5). The stirrup and strap surround the pipe and the strap at least can deform to follow the exact barrel profile, the nut being mounted on a threaded (4) leg end. One or other of the parts may have a uniform, e.g. round cross section affording a small contact surface with the pipe.
