<p>A narrow, lengthways, inward-widening cylinder slit contains two separately activated clamping and stretching units for the sheet front and rear edges, in provision for fastening the rubber sheet on the rubber cylinder of an offset printing press which also has another cylinder. The clamping unit (6) for the sheet (1) front edge (3), which has a firmly fitted reinforcing batten (4), has a stop (15) for aligning this edge parallel to the rubber cylinder axis. The unreinforced rear edge (5), is unrolled by means of an additional press cylinder, driven at the same speed, set on the rubber cylinder. For clamping and stretching, it is led into the loosened second unit which is clear of the stops limiting rear edge movement. This permits even stretching without exertion.</p> |
