The appts. has an integral printed circuit, or pancake, type electric motor at the hub, and offers a shallow axial dimension to occupy minimum space when fitted at the face of an automotive cooling radiator. The motor/fan unit has the fan blades moulded integrally with the epoxy disc which carries the rotor winding and with the rotor hub. The hub is carried on sleeve bearings fitted over an axial rod which separates the two halves of the stator. The stator has two dished metal sections screwed to the separating rod and leaving a peripheral slot for the rotor to emerge. An array of ferrite magnets is spaced round one stator dish, and soft iron pole pieces are fixed to the other stator dish opposite the ferrites. Carbon brushes are spring loaded onto the electrical contact ring of the rotor, and electrical connection is available to the brushes. A back plate has fixed mounting studs to allow attachment of the unit.
|
