Archimedean screw-type grease pump - has rotor with part-screw and part-separate flights

The grease pump consists of a vertical tube (3) fixed in the vat (1). The lower end (4) of the tube has a large inlet slot (5). Co-axially with the tube is a shaft (9) carrying an Archimedean screw (10) at its lower end. The screw extends upwards from the bottom of the shaft for a distance of between one and three tube diameters. The upper part of the shaft (9) supports a series of separate flights (11). These may follow the same or smaller pitch as the screw (10) or may be straight and inclined. The outlet of the tube has a rotating flange (12) fitted with paddles (13) which move the grease towards the outlet branch (18).
