Portable pulse detector (10). The pulse detector (10) includes a band (14) having a generally hoop-like shape which is adapted to fit about the wrist of the wearer. A hoop stress sensing circuit (16) detects the tensing of the band and generates a pulse signal each time the band is tensed by the pulse of a person wearing the band. A pulse evaluation circuit (18) responsive to the pusle signals generates an output signal indicative of the value of the pulse rate of the person wearing the band. |
